Tree Planting for the Planet!

On May 1, The Cacao Project successfully planted more than 800 cocoa trees in Grijalvo, San Fernando with the help of an astounding 400 volunteers! The programme was made successful thanks to the support of The Young Activists Summit, and the 1 pledge 1 tree campaign led by UN Geneva.

The Tree Planting event, which was celebrated on the fringes of Earth Week, engaged young people within the community to cultivate a value for land, and the importance not just of planting trees— but of cultivating forests and woking with our farmers to create environmentally sound livelihoods.

In celebration of community, The Cacao Project hosted a traditional ‘Boodle Fight’ or a table spread of food laid on banana leaves, where everyone can help themselves and eat— with their hands!

We at The Cacao Project would like to thank all the volunteers and partners who worked with us to organise such a monumental event, and we look forward to seeing you at the next!
